Specialist Occupational Therapy Services

Redwood OT works collaboratively with Solicitors, Case Managers, businesses, developers, charities and individual private clients, both face-to-face and virtually, to provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention and ongoing support.

The service is delivered by Natasha, who works with children and adults with complex physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory and developmental needs.

Natasha works in partnership with Case Managers and Solicitors in litigation cases, both during the claims process and following settlement. Her involvement begins with a comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment, considering the individual’s abilities, difficulties, environment, routines, relationships and long-term goals.

Redwood OT also works alongside private companies and professionals, including builders, architects and surveyors, to provide specialist assessment and advice on accessible house building and disability adaptations.

Areas of specialist Occupational Therapy services include:

• Housing design, accessibility and adaptations

• Advice to architects, builders and specialist contractors

• Independent living and daily living skills

• Personal care assessments

• Fatigue management

• Mobility aids and specialist equipment

• Wheelchairs and specialist seating

• Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs)

• Moving and handling assessments including training of care teams

• Sensory processing and emotional regulation

The service provided by Redwood OT is not based on a standard package. Every assessment and programme is developed around the individual, their priorities and the realities of their everyday life. Involvement may consist of one off specialist advice or longer-term Occupational Therapy input.

The aim is to provide clear, practical and creative solutions that improve safety, independence, participation and quality of life, while also supporting the family, care team and wider professionals involved.

Natasha’s Clinical experience

Independent Occupational Therapy Practice

Providing specialist Occupational Therapy services to children and adults with complex needs including comprehensive assessments, goal focused therapy, specialist equipment and housing adaptations, and moving and handling support. Natasha worked closely with clients, families, Case Managers and multidisciplinary teams across ongoing litigation and post-settlement cases.

Community rehabilitation (NHS)

Working with adults post hospital discharge in their homes to increase independence skills and improve quality of life. Including equipment provision, wheelchair prescribing, moving and handling and basic exercise rehabilitation

Children’s adaptations team (Local Authority)

Working with children aged 0-19 in their homes to provide equipment and major adaptations. Working alongside Surveyors, Architects and Local Authority DFG providers.

Special needs School and College (Independent Charitable Trust)

Providing therapeutic support across school, college, residential, and community settings to promote students’ social, emotional, and functional development. This included conducting in-depth assessments, working on sensory skills, delivering individual and group therapy, supporting access to learning, and working closely with staff and families to build independence and resilience for adulthood.

Mental health rehabilitation: (NHS)

A specialist mental health inpatient unit working with clients with complex and enduring mental health conditions with the aim of rehabilitation back into the community. This included independent living skills, access to work, individual and group work.
